There's a lot of hype about BIM. I don't like hype.
This website is where I try to distill the reality of implementing BIM, and dig into the ugly painful unfun bits.
I'm Tyler Disney. I started my career in 2009 as an HVAC design engineer. I became our unofficial BIM Guy, and then I became our Official Lead BIM Engineer (yes, we made that title up), and then I helped with implementation across the global offices.
In 2016 I switched to doing Engineering Visualization work.
In 2021 I switched to being fun-employed.
In 2024 I dipped a toe back in to Revit and realized… that I like it. And I’m still pretty good at it.
And I’ve got some stuff to say about it that can help other BIM folks out there.
So, here we are. This site is where I unload my only-moderately-filtered thoughts on how to pull off a BIM practice in an MEP firm.
